Country Tough Trail Versatility (CT2V) is a brand new competition association that is way different than any other association you have yet to see! CT2V focuses on versatility, but with a twist. We appreciate a solid trail horse and recognize them as a valuable part of our lives. There are three components to CT2V: actual trail, ranch horsemanship, and obstacles.
When I say actual trail, I mean actual trail. There will not be any obstacles brought out in the woods, but the trails itself. For example, you might have to back around a tree, walk over logs, go through a ditch crossing, go up a hill, or side pass from one tree to another.
Ranch horsemanship will consist of a pattern that the competitors will have the opportunity to work on and master well before the competition. Each division has a total of four different patterns to help develop their horsemanship skills.
The obstacle competition section is geared towards natural obstacles that one would encounter in a regular trail setting. Bridge crossings, flag carries, navigating a rock pit, and step downs are a few examples. Von Holten Ranch is also home to an elaborate mountain trail course that is utilized for the obstacle portion of CT2V.
All equine are welcome and you can compete on several different equine! For 2021, the membership dues are $20. Now then, I am sure you are wondering how much this will cost. CT2V prides itself in the affordable price to not exceed $45 per weekend.
CT2V was developed by David and Brandy Von Holten with Von Holten Ranch in Mora, MO. However, they did not do it alone. A board consisting of six other competitors, clinicians, and judges from vast backgrounds and ages were gathered to create a solid association the entire family can enjoy and grow from starting this year. CT2V was founded in 2018, and has experienced a 200% growth over the past two years!
In addition to a jacket series, the 4th Annual Country Tough Trail Versatility National Championship is scheduled for October 1-3, 2021. Champion and Reserve Champion buckles will be awarded for each division at the national championship.
